Green Day

At this time of year I am 100% looking and planning forward to all the events in the next two months, since April and May are always busy months for our family. So St. Patrick’s Day is not much more than an annoyance. Weird coming from the person with Irish heritage, but “celebrating” this holiday has always had negative connotations to me - pinching and food I don’t like and alcohol. It was the one day I always made sure to not be home when I lived in Southie.

It’s not like Valentine’s Day, which at least falls during a pretty boring and dark period of the year when I’m excited to celebrate. It also doesn’t really have traditions for children (although that seems to be changing with Leprechaun traps or something? That hasn’t hit our house yet, though). I can dutifully dress my children in green, but I hadn’t thought much further than that. Oh and don’t forget we just got back from a huge trip, so my brain has not been able to process anything else for a while.

E had mentioned that he expected to make green cupcakes again this year, so I did at least grab a Lucky Charm’s box mix I saw, knowing that I wouldn’t have a ton of energy to do much else. That plus a green tablecloth and a few pieces of chocolate at least made sure we acknowledged the day. Hopefully it was enough, because I’ve moved on to bunnies and birthdays in my mind. I’m a little afraid E will want a Pile Driver Truck birthday this year.. guess we’ll find out!
