Again With the Snow

Snow, snow, so much snow.

The most in the state, to be exact. I’m not sure how that happened. We were right on the edge of predictions of “a lot” and “not a lot” of snow, and we ended up with 5” more than the upper limit of predictions. Towns next to us got half as much as we did. Apparently we live in a snow pocket. A wonderful place to be when you have a broken snow blower, and a driveway that a plow truck can’t clear.

Not that our neighbors are doing much better. The one that has a plow managed to get it stuck while trying to clear snow. Towing it out resulted in a knocked over light pole and another stuck truck. There is a lot of snow out here, and it’s very heavy. Our new trees that we planted two years ago are almost broken in half with the weight. I’m hopeful a rescue mission later today will be successful.

E is thrilled with the snow, though. He’d spend all day outside shoveling snow and making paths around the house. G, not so much. He gets frustrated that he can’t walk in it, and cries that it’s too cold. So usually the two of us watch through the windows as Tom and E explore in the snow. (Fine by me!)

The snow is definitely a pain, but at this point, why not. We’ve got nothing else to do, at least it gives us a new view. This winter is dragging, this pandemic is endless, and this pregnancy is just getting started. Give me all the distractions. Which is maybe why I’m debating going all out for Valentine’s day. In a normal year, it’s not my favorite holiday, although kids are making me enjoy it more. But considering it falls on a three day weekend this year, when there’s nothing new day to day for us, I figure it might be worth baking some heart shaped treats and doing something. TBD.

I did manage to get out and have my pregnancy blood work done before the snow hit, which I’m now thankful for, since it looks like we’re not going anywhere any time soon. So hopefully I’ll have some nice boring test results to look forward to in the next few weeks as well.

(I should mention these pictures are after the driveway has already been shoveled once, so you’re missing about 10”)
