Disney on Ice!

We did a thing!

I’m not sure if it was more for us or more for the kids (okay it was definitely more for us), but we decided to try out Disney on Ice. Hands down my favorite part of Christmas.

Disney magic is always wonderful and immediately made me tear up, but maybe part of it was also the privilege to bring my children such joy at a time when our world seems to falling apart - it was a nice break for sure. I’ve also learned that anytime you can show a child something completely new is pretty amazing. Watching them take in something they didn’t know existed is honestly one of my favorite parts of being a parent. It’s a little sad knowing that if we do this again, it might not be as amazing, but this time was worth it.

We were in the third row, right behind the barrier - which gave the kids a bit of space and something to lean on if they got tired of sitting. Or if they were like F and not big enough to keep their seat down. It kept folding her back up, or she’d fall off from sitting on the edge. For the entire first act, all three of them sat completely still with their mouths open, watching. They woke up a bit and started dancing, singing and screaming for the second act. Of course maybe it was the cotton candy we got them at intermission…

We saw musical numbers from Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Coco, Tangled, Frozen, and Moana - the highlight of the night for sure! (Well except for F, her favorite was hands down the horse from Tangled!) No Encanto though, which was only mildly disappointing. The ice skaters were amazing - backflips and flying through the air.. I’m pretty sure the kids didn’t even realize they were skating. There was fire and explosions and it even snowed for few songs.

Overall it was an amazing and perfect night. We parked in the best spot and got out afterwards so easily. I’m honestly not even sure how we did it, but minutes after the show had ended we were already driving away. We had snacks for the kids, there were no tears, I’d prepared for something to go wrong, but it never did!

Honestly the only thing I’m upset about is when E went back to school and they had to tell the class what they did over vacation, they said we went to the mall (which we did) and never mentioned this!
