So I mentioned that I asked for nausea medication this time around. I'm not sure why, but morning sickness hit me so much worse this time around. And even worse that last time, I couldn't just sit on the couch when I felt horrible - I had a baby to chase around.
There were nights when Tom would come home to find E half in his PJs, using me as a jungle gym while I was lying on the floor of his bedroom trying not to throw up. It wasn't sustainable. So I filled my prescription and wondered if it would change anything. And boy did it. They are magical magic pills that took away the nausea completely.
Do you remember the last time you got the stomach flu or food poisoning? Do you remember the few minutes before you finally threw up? The full body pain, the urgent need to throw up. Do you think you could have sent an important email then? Given a presentation? Made dinner? That's the level of nausea I've been dealing with. Not for a few hours in the morning, but all day long, with no breaks. It wakes me up in the middle of the night. It has taken over my every thought and become all I can focus on.
That was how bad things are. And the pills took it all away.
Have you ever taken Benadryl in the middle of the day? Maybe you felt so sick you felt like it was your only option, or you were having a reaction to something. Did it make you incredibly sleepy? That's not even a good description though. Your brain is awake, although a bit cloudy, but your body is struggling to stay upright. Your legs feel like they're going to collapse, you can't keep your eyes open and your head is wobbling. It's an effort to stay awake every minute of the day.
Because that's what these magic pills do.
Which is better? Which would you choose? Right now, those are my only options. Live with the crippling nausea, or take medicine which knocks me out, but makes me feel better. All the time, counting down to week 12, or 13 or 14.. whenever this will hopefully go away.
